Ion Nitriding Furnace

  • Product Description:

An ion nitriding furnace is a device that uses a vacuum container to ionize a nitrogen-containing rarefied gas in a DC electric field. The positive ions bombard the surface of metal parts, forming a nitrided layer to achieve surface hardening.

Ion nitriding is effective for ductile iron, alloy steel, stainless steel, powder metallurgy products, titanium alloys, high-speed steel, and tool steel.

Product Introduction

An ion nitriding furnace consists of five parts: the furnace body, power transmission device, vacuum generation system, power supply system, gas supply system, and temperature measurement system.

1. The furnace body consists of a furnace cover, cylinder, furnace base, and base frame. Cooling water is circulated between the furnace cover, cylinder, and furnace base. The furnace is equipped with a double-layered heat insulation screen made of stainless steel and alloy aluminum. Double-layered tempered glass is installed on the furnace body for observation of the furnace interior during ion nitriding.

2. The furnace cover is equipped with two sets of cathode power transmission devices and one set of thermocouple-equipped hanging columns with hanging plates. Users should design lifting devices according to the parts being processed to suspend the workpieces on the hanging plates.

3. The vacuum system of the furnace body generally consists of two rotary vane vacuum pumps and a piping system with disc valves connected in series. The function of the disc valves is to adjust the pumping volume by closing or rotating them at different angles to maintain the furnace pressure under different gas intake conditions. The vacuum degree is measured using a matching vacuum gauge.

4. The gas supply pipe inlet of the furnace body is located on the furnace shell, with one hydrogen-calibrated and one nitrogen-calibrated rotor flowmeter.

5. Thermocouples are inserted into the furnace via thermocouple suspension columns for simulated measurement. The temperature is recorded by instruments for P, I, and D temperature control.
